The European drug market is changing, and detection must change with it.
The European Union Drugs Agency’s Report 2025 highlights that drug availability remains high across substance types, with a wider range of high-potency and novel substances creating growing health and security risks.
For authorities, this means one major challenge: how to identify what is being produced, where it is being produced and which precursors are being used, especially when new substances appear faster than traditional systems can adapt.
PENTION directly responds to this need by developing portable vapour detection technology that combines differential mobility analysis and mass spectrometry to generate chemical fingerprints of drugs and precursors.
Better detection can support better prevention, faster response and stronger disruption of illicit production.
