PENTION project was presented at the European Commission’s CERIS workshop on research and innovation against illicit drugs.

On 5–6 May 2026, the European Commission hosted the workshop “Research and innovation against illicit drugs: from foresight to operational impact” in Brussels, bringing together policymakers, practitioners, EU agencies, researchers, civil society and industry to discuss how EU-funded security research can support a more effective response to drug-related threats.

During the event, our Project Coordinator from MION, Daoíz Zamora, presented the PENTION project and its contribution to the fight against synthetic drug production and trafficking, exploring the new ways of trafficking and how PENTION technology can impact them.

Participation in drug-related events like this is key to connecting research, technology and operational needs: helping innovative EU-funded solutions move closer to real-world impact.
