A massive international law enforcement operation, coordinated by Europol, has dealt a historic blow to synthetic drug production in Europe. Known as operation FABRYKA, the investigation led to the dismantling of 24 industrial-scale laboratories across the European Union.

The operation involved law enforcement authorities from six countries: Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic and Spain.

The scale of the findings is unprecedented:

• 85+ arrests: key figures in criminal networks were taken into custody.
• 1,000 tonnes of precursors: a record-breaking seizure of chemicals used to produce mdma, amphetamines, and methamphetamines.
• Industrial sophistication: the labs were not small-scale operations but highly sophisticated facilities capable of mass-producing illicit substances.

Europol has highlighted that this represents the largest operation ever conducted in Europe against synthetic drug manufacturing. It underscores the growing scale of criminal networks and the critical importance of international cooperation in tracking the chemical precursors that fuel these illegal industries.
